Philanthropy: Raising Awareness of Violence against Women

Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated  has dedicated itself to combating and championing domestic violence awareness and awareness of violence against women. Recognizing that violence against women hinders progression, we have broadened the scope of our National Philanthropy to include ALL forms of violence affecting our gender, including but not limited to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Mutilation, Stalking, and Human Trafficking.

Each year, Alpha Beta Chapter participates in different initiatives related to raising awareness of violence against women. These endeavors focus on issues and barriers that affect survivors, including work, school, and children. We also select a beneficiary to collaborate with us in hosting events and fundraising efforts to support this cause. We hope is to continue to making a difference in local communities throughout New York City.

E.N.C.A.N.T.O.
Educando Nuestra Comunidad: A Night of Teaching & Overcoming

E.N.C.A.N.T.O. is an annual event focused on raising awareness of domestic violence in the New York Metropolitan Area. In an effort to educate the community about this significant issue, the Alpha Beta NYC Alumnae Chapter brings together performers, speakers and artists for an evening filled with song, inspirational stories and art. All proceeds benefit a local domestic violence service organization.

Community Service & Advocacy

The mission of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is to Serve and Educate people of diverse backgrounds through sisterhood, leadership, and guidance. With this in mind, Alpha Beta Chapter sisters participate in different projects throughout the year and give back to communities within New York City.

Some initiatives in which sisters have volunteered include: Women's March, Dress for Success, Habitat for Humanity, Suicide Prevention Walk, AIDS Walk, Ray of Hope Walk, Toy Drive, Christmas in the Park, Brooklyn Park Clean-up, and Project Homeless.

"Cocktails for a Cause:" Helping to End Domestic Violence

"Cocktails for a Cause" is a series of after work fundraising mixers to benefit domestic violence awareness. The events usually take place during the summer months.  Money raised at these events go to fund our annual "E.N.C.A.N.T.O.: Educando Nuestra Comunidad: A Night of Teaching & Overcoming." E.N.C.A.N.T.O. is a night of poetry, music, education and networking which will benefit a local domestic violence awareness and service organization.
