3/11/2011 Alumnae Give Back With A Touch Of Style![]() New York, NY...March 11, 2011 – The NYC Alpha Beta Alumnae Chapter of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (OPBSI) is proud to announce the launch of their 2011Prom dress collection initiative, “Operation Dressy Dress,” to benefit Sanctuary for Families New York’s “Butterfly Boutique.” From now until April 2, 2011 Alpha Beta chapter will be accepting donations of formal party dresses, shoes, and accessories in brand new, like new, or good condition for NYC high school girls in need. Operation Dressy Dress will officially launch at OPBSI’s National Convention which is being held at Pace University’s Pleasantville campus on March 11-13. The goal of this drive is to provide an opportunity for young women to attend her prom with confidence. Vanessa Santiago, President of OPBSI said, “As young women, we all remember how important it was to not only go to our high school prom, but look and feel great in a fabulous dress. Unfortunately, not all young women in high school have the funds to purchase expensive dresses for the prom. Sanctuary for Families is the largest nonprofit in New York State dedicated exclusively to serving domestic violence victims and their children. Each year, Sanctuary helps thousands of victims and their children build safe lives by offering a range of high quality services to meet their complex needs. These services include clinical, legal, shelter, children and economic stability services. Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, a NALFO organization member, is a Latina-oriented sorority founded on March 15, 1989, at the University at Albany, State University of New York.
