Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Beta Alumnae Chapter

New York, NY...August 16, 2012 –The Alpha Beta NYC Alumnae Chapter of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (OPBSI) proudly announces a donation of seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) presented to New York State-based Sanctuary for Families for their Teen Program. The generous donation was a result of donations from benefactors who supported the Love Doesn’t Hurt Walk on June 24, 2012 at Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx.

“We are proud of the outcome of the first ever Love Doesn’t Hurt Walk.  We are grateful to the dozens of people who joined us at the Walk, as well as the many volunteers who helped make it a success,” shares Selina Hernandez, President of the Alpha Beta NYC Alumnae Chapter of OPBSI.   “We are happy to have raised funds that will benefit the Teen Program which provides individual and group counseling to help teens understand Domestic Violence.  The donation will be going towards partial funding of a summer workshop series to benefit teens in the program,” also shares Ms. Hernandez.

Sanctuary for Families is the largest nonprofit in New York State dedicated exclusively to serving domestic violence victims and their children. Each year, Sanctuary helps thousands of victims and their children build safe lives by offering a range of high quality services to meet their complex needs. SORORITY ALUMNAE RAISE $1,000 for Sanctuary for Families
Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Beta Alumnae Chapter

New York, NY...October 19, 2011 – On Saturday, October 15th, at a festive fundraiser cocktail party and art gallery at Milk Lounge in New York City, the Alpha Beta NYC Alumnae Chapter of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. presented New York State-based Sanctuary for Families with a donation check of one thousand dollars ($1,000). The generous donation was a result of proceeds from ticket sales and donations from benefactors who attended the event.

The second annual cocktail party fundraiser, “E.N.C.A.N.T.O.- Educando Nuestra Comunidad-A Night of Teaching and Overcoming” was centered on raising awareness of domestic violence in the New York Metropolitan Area. In an effort to educate the community about this significant issue, the Alpha Beta NYC Alumnae Chapter brought together performers, speakers and artist for an evening filled with song, inspirational stories and art.
