Why did you join Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated?

"Becoming a sister of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was something I knew I wanted to do from the moment I learned about the organization. The sisters were sincere and professional, the organizations' philanthropy was one I could personally relate to, and all truth be told, there was simply no other organization that could compare in my eyes.  I joined the organization as an Alumnae member because although I was no longer an undergraduate student, I still believed in all the organization stood for and represented.  My passion for OPBSI has never dwindled despite the years; it has only grown deeper.  I cannot envision my life without many of the amazing women I have come to call my sisters.  For these and many reasons more, I continue to be as actively involved in the organization as I possibly can despite my busy schedule as a professional and a mother."
-Karla S A. Fall 2004

"I decided to join this organization because I was in a domestic violence situation while I was in high school.  To find an organization that the National Philanthropy is Raising Awareness of Violence Against Women is a place where I felt I can give back by helping young women who may be experiencing the same situation that I once went through.  By joining this organization, I feel that I can give back by joining the Madrinas program and working with all the chapters to try to support their events.  I love this organization, the tight sister bonding that is shown among one another and the way we try to help each other during difficult and great times.  This organization has taught me to become more assertive and humble with my life."
-Kim C.  Fall 2006

"I pledged OPBSI because I want to set a good example to many Ethnic Deaf women."
- Kelly L.  Spring 2006

"I wanted to pledge OPBSI because it was an organization that I was drawn to for its professionalism, community services and tight sisterhood. Knowing that I can make a greater impact when coming together with 600+ women is something that I felt strongly about. Throughout my interest years I have built strong bonds with sisters who have shown me what OPBSI was really about, and still our bonds have grown deeper. I believe in all the organization stands for and am proud to be part of such a great organization."
-Ashley L., Summer 2009

"I met 2 strong women who stood apart from the rest while i was an undergrad at Hofstra. They were leaders, intellegent, charismatic and nurturing. These 2 women were Jenny Blanco and Sandy O'Connor from Alpha Beta Chapter of OPBSI, Summer 1996. They introduced me to a number of equally amazing women. I saw women who were leaders; proud of their roots and ready to contribute to the betterment of our future. I saw dedication, integrity and above all I saw true friendship and sisterhood. As I grew to learn more about OPBSI , it became more evident that I wanted to be part of this organzation. It took some time, but with patience and hardwork, I was afforded the opportunity to be part of the chartering membership intake class at Hofstra University during the Fall of 1998. By this time I was a Senior and to many outsiders it didn't make sense why I would join a sorority for a year. Their scepticism was lost on me because I knew that joining OPBSI wasn't just a college venture, it was a lifetime committment."
-Cynthia L., Kappa Chapter Chartering Member, Fall 1998

"Why did I pledge OPB? I really took my time to research Omega Phi Beta and get to the know the sisters on campus before finally taking the leap as a last semester senior at our Alpha Chapter.  When I realized how active and involved the sisters continued to be as alumnae, I realized that this was a lifetime commitment.  I wanted to be a part of a sisterhood that could withstand the test of time.  As a result, I have met some of the best friends I will ever have.  We have shared some of the most important milestones in our lives together.  I know that I can count on my sisters and trust that they have my best interests at heart.  And as if that isn't enough, I also get to stay connected with my community through service, mentorship, and fundraising.  Through my many years of involvement with our National Council and the Alumnae Associaton I have developed an array of skills that I have used to advance in my career.  Becoming a member of OPBSI was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Soleil!!!!"
-Rebecca R., Alpha Chapter, Spring 1998

"I joined Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated because of the level of pride and enthusiasm about the organization that the Founders demonstrated during the informational meeting on my campus. Being part of what would become the chartering line at Binghamton University was a challenge, but one that was necessary in order to bring what I knew was right for me to my school. I remain active in the organization now, as a professional, because I was able to learn the ins and outs of the organization from its creators, and I feel that keeping their dream alive, while helping to spread their ideas to others is my job as a sister."
-Cher T., Delta Chapter Chartering Member, Spring 1992

"I became a sister of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. because I knew from the moment that I was exposed to the organization that I would be given the opportunity to unconditionally give back to the community. I understood that becoming a member not only meant that I would be part of an amazing sisterhood, but also that I would have the opportunity to positively impact those around me. I fell in love with the organizations philanthropy and with its' overall vision. I am very proud to say that I am a sister of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and my love for this organization is beyond what words could ever explain. I love my sisters and love everything we stand and strive for; would not give it up for anything in the world."
-Mabel V., Summer 2009
